Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 27, 2026  ·  Last updated: February 27, 2026

Boogadee Inc. ("Boogadee", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, SBC 2003, c. 63) and, where applicable, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

By accessing or using Boogadee's website and services (collectively, the "Platform"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and consent to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Who We Are

Boogadee is a childcare marketplace platform headquartered in British Columbia, Canada. We connect parents and guardians seeking childcare with licensed and registered childcare providers operating primarily within BC.

Our designated Privacy Officer can be reached at privacy@boogadee.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information only to the extent necessary for the purposes outlined in this Policy.

a) Information you provide directly

  • Account registration: name, email address, password, and role (parent or provider).
  • Parent profile: family details, children's names, ages, and childcare preferences.
  • Provider profile: centre name, address, licence number, operating hours, capacity, photos, and service descriptions.
  • Waitlist applications: information submitted when a parent applies to join a provider's waitlist.
  • Communications: messages, support requests, or feedback you send to us or through the Platform.

b) Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, search queries, features used, timestamps, and referring URLs.
  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and device identifiers.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 8 below.

c) Information from third parties

  • If you sign in using a third-party authentication service, we receive basic profile information (name and email) from that service.
  • We may verify provider licence status with the BC Childcare Licensing database to support platform integrity.

3. Why We Collect Your Information

We collect personal information for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your account on the Platform.
  • To facilitate connections between parents and childcare providers.
  • To process and manage waitlist applications.
  • To send transactional communications (e.g., waitlist status updates, confirmations).
  • To send service-related announcements and, where you have opted in, marketing communications.
  • To improve and personalise the Platform experience.
  • To maintain platform security and detect fraudulent activity.
  • To comply with legal obligations under BC and Canadian law.

We will not use your personal information for any new purpose without first identifying that purpose and obtaining your consent, unless otherwise permitted by PIPA.

4. Consent

We rely on your consent as the primary basis for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information. By creating an account, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy.

You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us at privacy@boogadee.com. Withdrawal of consent may limit your ability to use certain features of the Platform.

5. Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • Between parents and providers: When a parent submits a waitlist application, the relevant profile information is shared with the selected provider. Providers' public listing information is visible to all Platform users.
  • Service providers: We engage trusted third-party vendors (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics) who process personal information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations consistent with PIPA.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or a government authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Boogadee, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred to a successor entity, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. When personal information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

If you close your account, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or audit purposes.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Under PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@boogadee.com. We will respond to access requests within 30 business days as required by PIPA.

If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC (OIPC) at www.oipc.bc.ca.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Platform. These include:

  • Essential cookies: Required for authentication and core Platform functionality.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Platform so we can improve the experience.
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect Platform functionality. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for use by parents, guardians, and childcare providers — all of whom must be 19 years of age or older (the age of majority in BC). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 19.

Information about children (such as a child's name and age in a family profile) is provided by parents or guardians. This information is used solely to facilitate appropriate childcare matches and is handled with heightened care.

10. Security

We implement reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

Despite our efforts, no security measure is perfect. In the event of a privacy breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OIPC as required under PIPA.

11. Links to Third-Party Sites

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites (for example, a provider's own website or Calendly booking links). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
